How'd it get to be August already?

We took a pause, looked around and realized August would be a good time to give our hard working staff (and ourselves) a little time off. But not much, because we have a lot of things in the works...

Flash Sale and (Short) Summer Break

We’re having a FLASH SALE at our Lincoln Square store August 5-9. 50% OFF outdoor plants and 25% OFF everything else.

Then we’re going to take a break during the Dog Days of Summer until September 2 when both stores will reopen Wednesday - Sunday, 10-6. Reach out if you need something, we’ll be around (but we might be putting our feet up a little bit.)

Landscaping Project? Your Timing Is Perfect

Spring was pretty insane for many reasons. If you didn’t get around to reaching out about your landscaping project, it’s ok. Fall is an excellent time to install a new landscape - in some ways, even better than spring.

And don't forget fall containers... they'll keep us all cheerful despite the state of the world. We offer custom design for residential and commercial applications.

You can learn more about our full-service landscaping offering HERE.

It’s time to Pre-order your fall veggies!

As odd as it may seem, it’s time to start thinking fall gardens. In order to help you make the most of your second season of gardening, we’re working with our growers to offer fall garden kits. Pre-order them now and pick them up (or have them delivered) right before Labor Day and just in time for fall!

We’ve got a Fall Garden Kit in two sizes, a Fall Salad Pod Kit  for your small but mighty space, and the return of our popular Happy by the Six pack with your choice of organic Salad or Herbs.

Order now, pick up (or have it delivered) just before Labor Day and then join us for a special class on 9/8 to talk specifics with City Grange Garden Educator, Brekke Bounds. She’ll walk you through the exact plants we get from our grower and help you get them settled in for fall success. You'll get sign-up details when you complete your order.

Helping Restaurants Reopen

When Gene & Georgetti put in the first patio in their 76 year history, they called City Grange for their container design needs as part of Phase 3 requirements. It was a great project. And we had a lot of fun doing it (plus they fed us #bonus.)

Our Plant Boss, Joan Murray, is a veteran designer of interesting and useful containers for commercial and (select) residential applications. If you are working on your restaurant's outdoor area, give us a call. We love helping other small businesses succeed... Check out the G&G project HERE.

August Online Classes

The stores may be taking a break but we’ll still have online classes and other learning opportunities for you. It is high-summer after all and we’re here to help you with important garden “grow-how”.

Wondering how to save heirloom tomato seeds? Or how to add fall color to your landscape? Or maybe you just have questions to ask our plant geeks? We’re ready to help you with all of that and more in our August classes! Check out upcoming programming and sign up HERE.

We hope to “see” you at some of these exciting upcoming classes!

Big Happenings in Beverly: Update

The Beverly shop closed on July 27 for repairs and installation of our new cafe. We’re in the process of installing equipment and finishing some work that didn’t get done before we opened this spring. Of course it is taking longer than we thought so, as you read above, we’ll be closed until September 2.

When we reopen, in addition to the cafe, we’ll also be offering full-service floral design and landscaping services for fall projects and containers. To get on the dance card for fall landscaping projects, click HERE.

Black Lives Matter & Fundraiser for Fresher Together

We’re excited to announce that we will be continuing our collaboration with and support of Chef Fresh and her newly launched organization, Fresher Together, this month.

FresherTogether, is creating a Harvest Bag (you can learn more about that HERE) that supports both BIPOC farmers and communities. For every one you purchase, one is donated. We’re planning to distribute Harvest Bags at both City Grange locations when they become available. So keep an eye out!

Also, in June we raised $500 at our Garden Cocktail event in support of this initiative. And we’re ready to do it again (or maybe even raise more!) Join us for Garden Cocktails: Garnishes from the Garden on August 27th. We’ll learn ways to add excitement to drinks straight from the garden and then listen to some fabulous music together, all while raising money for a great cause!

We’ve said it before, food justice is central to social justice and we are excited to be a part of this work to get support to the folx who need it most.
